One of the many places along our journey this year we had to visit was the working stone circle in Wairarapa called Stonehenge Aotearoa.
To my knowledge it is the only functioning stone circle in the world.
It is NOT a replica of Stonehenge in Surrey England, but instead is built according to mathematical measurements and alignments associated with the many henges in the northern hemisphere.
Stone circles are a paleolithic technology that predate our civilization by at least 5500 years. The one in Carterton demonstrates how they worked and why they were of importance for early European religious cults and pre-Christian religious belief.
When standing in the exact center of the circle the user experiences a heightened sense of audio acoustic awareness and an amplification of his or her presence and sound projection, allowing them to lead and hypnotize an audience into a meditative state without the use of psychedelic drugs.
This circle was built with the help of The Royal Society of NZ, and The Phoenix Astrolonomical Society in 2003.
This was my 3rd time visiting this site, but for Vena the experience was new and a unique day outside together.
